December 2020 by the Numbers

We have done some amazing work since the Aurora Amateur Radio Group began administering remote examinations through the ARRL VEC on December 2nd, 2020.  In the month of December, the Aurora Amateur Radio Group VE team has achieved the following:

Number of applications received (started on December 2nd):    67
Number of exam sessions:    9
Number of examinees for December 2020:    42
Number of examinations administered in December 2020:    55
Total amount of monetary donations from examinees in December 2020:    $150.00

We have administered a fully remote exam to a fully blind applicant, done a zero-to-Extra fully remote exam, administered a Technician exam to an applicant physically located in the country of Qatar and even had a 16 year old candidate.  Some people reading this who are working with larger VE teams would simply say that these numbers are small and don't mean anything.  While that may be true, there is one significant difference between us and other groups.  We are focused on quality, not quantity.  Granted, we are not holding massive exam sessions with an abundance of applicants, but we are holding group exams that yield something very special.  Just ask any of the applicants who have tested with us!

December 2020 has been an amazing month for the Aurora Amateur Radio Group.  We have seen some of the very best our club has to offer the amateur radio community through our commitment to serve and working together as a team.  Our desire to make applicants feel right at home is something we have been so blessed to embrace since we started doing remote testing as a club.  It truly has paid off!

As we begin a new year, the Aurora Amateur Radio Group is driven more than ever to continue the amazing work that once began with a few gathered together.  Our vision to bring testing and serve the under served in America will be among our primary goals for this new year and we look forward to seeing others join our effort.  Again, a very special thanks to our incredible Volunteer Examiner team, software developers and other folks who have truly made this club special and something to be proud of.  Your efforts mean more than you realize.

Happy New Year and 73!
